Can't reset password

Question

Am trying to reset my password and none of the Netgear methods are working. When I try to access the netgar page the username password (admin, password) don't work. When I manually enter my ip address, it can't find it. Now what?

The only way to reset the password is by doing a factory reset by holding down the reset button on the back with a pin for 10 seconds this should reset it to admin, password.

I have a hole and a button just below the USB port. I tried holding the button down for 10 seconds and could see no effect when trying to access the sign-in page. I probed the hole with a pin but couldn't feel any button or switch inside. Is it necessary that I restart (power on/off) the router before or after the reset?

You should have the modem on and hold that reset button on the back for 10 seconds and then just let the modem reset for 2 or 3 minutes you shouldn't need to power it off.
