CAX30 Xfinity Wireless Speed ~200mbps
I have an Xfinity 1gb wireless plan, getting a little over 900mbps over wired connection, my wireless connections are getting between 200mbps - at best 600mbps but mostly around the 200-400mbps. I've checked different settings, no traffic meter no parental settings, and getting the same result. I just got an email from Xfinity today saying my modem/router combo isn't on their approved list of devices; when looking for a personal one after spending so much money on renting their gateway it said it was compatible with Xfinity.

Strange, because the Product Data Sheet claims that it is:

But, that would imply that it is compatible with the normal "Cable Internet" service. What plan is this?

I don't think that is unusual for 5 ghz wifi client connections. The CAX30's channel bandwidth is 80 mhz, which gives a max speed around 600 mbps.
What clients are you testing this with?

The reason they say it "isn't compabile" is that their 1 gig tier provisions at 1.2 gigs. So technically, it can't hit the full speed of the tier. But it'll hit 1 gig speeds no problems. Its just not multigig. So don't worry about it.
In terms of speeds, 5ghz speeds decrease quickly with distance. As StephenB says, you're only going to get around that 600mbps out of 5ghz max. Which your post indicates you're hitting, With distance, obstructions, interference, those speeeds will drop off quickly. But 200mbps is still proficient with anything you're doing. Streaming 4k only takes 25-50mbps. So unless you're moving massive datasets/backups/etc regularly, you won't really notice the difference unless you're speedtesting.

Xfinity advertising and e-mail authors are masters at twisting words. Be very careful what you use to make a decision.
