Hello, I have a Netgear AC1900 v2 Modem Router and I can’t see the USB drive I plugged into it. On page 55 of the Netgear manual, it describes how to access the USB drive from a Windows or Mac Device, but nothing on how to do this on a Debian system (Linux Mint). Not sure who to ask so I’m starting here. Thanks.140Views0likes5CommentsCan't get over about 200mbps on new CAX30 with Xfinity 1.2gbps plan
Hi! I've got a new Netgear Nighthawk AX6 CAX30 with firmware 2.2.4.2. I have the Xfinity 1.2gbps plan. On my PC I'm seeing speeds of about 200mbps. On the PC's 2.5G connection I'm seeing around 200mbps also. On the PC's 5G connection I'm seeing about 200mpbs... The laptop is getting around 11mbps on 5G and 158mbps on, I think, 2.5G. On the Netgear modem/router UI I'm getting around 500mbps. Xfinity reports that this modem is not on their "approved" list and I'm told that may mean I'm being throttled. Something about how I have the 1.2gbps plan and the modem can only handle 1gbps via ethernet, or...? Curiously, LAN3 on this device only shows 100M/Full. The PC is connected to LAN1 which shows 1G/Full. Can someone help me maybe figure out how to get back up to gigabit speeds using the CAX30 with the 1.2gbps plan?145Views1like11CommentsCAX80 - Internet Outage Reset
It happened a few of times I had a disruption in my internet signal. The latest with an Internet outage. My ISP is COX and after the outage was over my signal coming from then was good. But after multiple resets and troubleshooting COX could not figure it out. I logged in my router and confirmed all the settings were good. Ultimately, I rest the router and established it again which made by connection work. I just read this post which I think is describing the same thing. https://community.netgear.com/discussions/home-cable-modems-routers/cax80-complete-reset-after-losing-internet-or-power/2231124 Is that a normal procedure? Has anyone else experienced this? Did I do the right thing or should I do something else instead of reseting the router?73Views0likes2CommentsCAX30: Can't connect using WiFi after Netgear Armor trial period ends
I have a fairly new Nighthawk AX6/CAX30 modem/router, using it with Cox, have had it for just over a month. It came with a one month free trial of Netgear Armor. I'd been getting emails for the last week or so saying that my free trial was about to expire, etc. The trial ran out yesterday (Feb 10). Last night, I realized that none of my devices could connect to the CAX30 using WiFi. On an Android phone, I'd get a message saying "connection failure, check password", and Windows PCs would not connect either. Verified that I was using the correct passwords, but no change. I did a factory reset on the modem/router and that didn't help either. If I connect a PC to the CAX30 with an ethernet cable, it works fine. I turned WiFi off on the CAX30 (using the front panel button), plugged in my old WiFi router and everything in the house connects to WiFi just fine fine (I'd set the CAX30 up with same SSID and password as the old router). So while I have a temporary workaround, it's not ideal. I'm really suspicious that the Netgear Armor software trial is somehow involved in this, though when I login to the CAX30 thru the web interface, it says that security is off. Curious if anyone else has encountered this, and has a solution?150Views0likes7CommentsCAX80 Poor Cable Connection
I have a CAX80 with Spectrum internet, and I noted that the Cable Connection indicates a "Poor" Status and and downstream status indicates 11.0dBmV which appears to on the high side of the recommended range. I have double/triple checked all cables inside the home, and have only not checked the outside connection into the house. I still get decent/good speeds, but should it be a cause for concern?468Views0likes2CommentsHow do I hook up phone line
I'd like to know if there is a work-around for this, like a VOIP adapter perhaps? I have cellular only phone service but my ISP has a landline phone number delegated to me. I need to have a landline phone for a Lifeline emergency device and need to do something soon. Any thoughts? I know this thread is over 6 years old.560Views0likes4CommentsMy CAX80 keeps losing its settings when power is cycled...
My CAX80 keeps losing its settings when power is cycled. I searched the internet for solutions, and it looks like this has been a problem with Netgear products for many years, so I don't have a lot of confidence that this post will do any good. My CAX80 is running the latest firmware, so if anyone has a eureka moment and tries to suggest updating the firmware, it's not going to work. Restoring the settings from a saved configuration doesn't work either. In fact, it will crash a device that is actually working properly. Internet searches also show that this is a long-standing problem. For others who are suffering these problems, and for prospective Netgear purchasers, whatever you do, don't buy Netgear products. These issues will leave you many miles from home without RDP access and with an unsecured wifi router...544Views0likes6CommentsC7100V – Nighthawk AC1900 WiFi Cable Modem Router With Battery PB022
Yes it's been 5 years, but I wonder what version of firmware you were using with this modem? I purchased a used C7100V and it had V2.01.45 firmware. Maybe this was a bug that was addressed by the time V2.01.45 came around? Also, I'm wondering what happened to your voice service when the battery kicked in? I notice that the PB022 battery description for the C7100V on pg 12 of the manual and reiterated at https://kb.netgear.com/000038533/How-do-I-install-the-optional-battery-in-my-C7100v-cable-modem-voice-router only talk about how long it will maintain VOICE connectivity: "The battery can give you five hours of additional talk time and eight hours of idle time for voice service during a power outage." Maybe that's a clue that it is only intended to maintain the telephone connection during a power outage and the modem is purposely being put to sleep to minimize power usage?352Views0likes1Comment
