CAX80 Multi-gig ethernet port dropping
I've upgraded to the CAX80 to take advantage of Xfinity's new 1200mbps speed. My PC has a 5gig ethernet port. I've already spent over 2 hours on the phone with NETGEAR support - with no resolution be...

What device do you have connected to this port?

Yes I have xfinity; im forced tro use one of the 1 gig ports instead of the 2.5GB port, too late to return the product.
Will NEVER buy another netgear product again.

I have spectrum gig and im having the same problem. Ive had the device for less than 3 days. Sometimes it will stay on forever, and then other times it will just drop out, out of nowhere. If im in the regular gig ports its fine

I wish I had seen this thread before buying the unit from Amazon. I noticed this problem with the multi-gig port right away. Tech support only asked me to replace the ethernet cable!
So, will a factory reset solve the problem? Or is it the WiFi frequencies?
I do like the rest of this device, but this one is a deal-breaker for me.
Thanks.

What FW is currently loaded on the modem?
Is the CAX in gateway or modem only mode?
What do you have connected to the 2.5Gb port on the CAX80?
What CAT# LAN cable are you using?

Thanks!
The firmware is the one I loaded when I got the thing yesterday-- V2.1.3.5
I believe it is in gateway mode....modem and router.
I have a Mac Studio connected to that port. It is capable of 10 Gbps.
The cable is CAT-8 rated for 2000 Mhz / 40 Gbps.
Should I return it to Amazon? Seems that the issue is the same as what is in this thread. Thanks much.

Is the CAT cable UTP or STP?
There is this however not sure if it will fix:

spent a year with tech support to no avail.
i only use it as a cable modem, no routing or wifi.
i still drops the 2.5g port to 1gig on occasion.

Yikes! I guess I should return to Amazon while I still can. No other products like it?

updating to the new firmware from march 22' fixed the issue for me. It was/is definitely a firmware issue.

Thanks!
I had upgraded to that firmware and it got really bad. So, the Netgear tech support told me to downgrade to the prior firmware. Just not sure if they really know what is going on.
So, you are sure the problem with the 2.5 port is now fixed for you?
- VlalkorMay 12, 2022Guide
No issues since upgrading to the V2.1.3.7 firmware (was V2.1.3.5 before)
- GACubanMay 12, 2022Star
Thanks. How long have you been on the new firmware without the issue? A few days or weeks?
- VlalkorMay 12, 2022Guide
A few days so far, but the issue was VERY noticeable and instant before. I would notice the D/Cs instantly with the prior firmware version.

Thanks. Is the device you have connected to the multi-gig port one that can handle more than 1 Gbps?
- VlalkorMay 12, 2022Guide
yes

Mine does the same thing

Yup same problem here on my modem. I am back to using the one gig ports. Not happy either this modem has been out long enough for this problem to be solved.
