okay sorry on the Xfinity modem I was getting 800 then when I test on the Netgear one I get 25 and on my laptop 150 ish they are both wifi 6. I have never had problems with the xb7 router with WiFi speeds. then I installed the cax80 and activated it and had a tech come out and test the line and nothing is the issue with them. I'm trying to figure out if it's a boot file problem or not but I don't think it is but if other people have had the problem I have had with the same router and service you seem to be the only one that it has worked for seemingly. they both have the 160 MHz band and can use it

Do an actual speed test to a laptop with a gigabit or multi gig adapter.
I get 1.15 to 1.2 Gigabits per second in my Comcast Gig profile using the CAX80.
I would ignore the built in speed test, even the Ookla website and App test at times pick the wrong servers, I usually manually pick the test servers. This issue with Ookla only started recently for me. DSL reports seems more accurate. Or you can use the Xfinity speed test.

- carson_adkinsJul 10, 2020ApprenticeI use the Xfinity speed test and it's the same result it's something with the wifi or the Xfinity Activation isn't right

It all comes down to testing hardwired.
If you can get full speeds wired, its working properly.
If you can't, then it could be the provisioning. the CAX80 is literally the newest modem released from netgear. Maybe the wrong provisioning was sent to it.
- carson_adkinsJul 10, 2020Apprenticebut also it's not just about hardwired speeds I get it matters but my Xfinity one that I got from them with the same wifi 6 does 800mbps on my s10 I'm trying to figure out from people what their frequencies are from the internal modem cable connection

Whats the point of troubleshooting your wireless speeds if the modem isn't getting full speeds? That's what we're trying to determine.
I get that your xfinity modem got 800mbps. But if it (cax80) wasn't provisioned properly or isn't linking properly we need to determine that first. Thats where your hardwired testing comes in.
Or call customer service. The cax80 is new so it has to be within the 90days of free support from netgear.
click "mynetgear" at the top. Register an account and then the device. From there you can contact support.
- carson_adkinsJul 10, 2020ApprenticeI get that I understand I talked to Netgear before for like 2 days they said that it's Comcast I called them they activated the new one I got from Netgear and it did the same as the first one I got and I'm waiting on a ethernet adapter to test because I haven't built my new PC yet so I'm using a laptop to test tomorrow

I am having same slow speed issue ping is 80 speed is 130Mbps download.
Xfinity caome out checked all the connections. I updated frm ware and made changes in advanced setting working with technical support at netgear. Not happy with technical support claims speed would come up after 24 hours. What does the stat of the ionisphere affect the updates??? I call BS.

I Put my CAX80 online as router today. I'm seeing good download speed on the wire.
I'll check this over the weekend.
- DanQCRDec 04, 2021StarAfter a long time and replacing the CAX80 with tech support, I finally gave up and went and bought an eero 6 Pro. I setup the CAX80 in modem mode by just turning the router part off, hooked up the eero to the 2.5Gbps port (matter of preference, if eero doesn’t support over 1G, any port should be fine).
End result, all problems of slow and intermittent connections disappeared.
The eero limits my service to 1G, yes; but I rather have 1G fast and stable with eero, than 1.2G or more with the Nighthawk all buggy and unreliable. - DanQCRDec 04, 2021StarI agree. Hence my disappointment with the product. I wish I knew the cax was so unreliable, I would have bought the CM and paired it with the eero since the beginning.

I'll be getting my testing results to NG for review. Hopefully NG can figure it out and get it fixed.

Annoying as hell when people try to distract. It is s1 to 1 comparison. Get it? - DanQCRJan 05, 2022StarYeap. Netgear ended up replacing my CAX80. But even with the newest firmware I still have problems of disconnecting devices. I strongly believe that the problem resides in the router part of the device, specifically to the smart connect feature. If you separate the frequencies and dedicate 5GHz to faster devices and 2.4GHz to slower ones, the constant disconnecting problem disappears.
In my case, I gave up and bought an eero Pro 6 to use as a router and I setup the CAX80 as a modem only. Ever since the internet and connections in my house are stable all day. - Avezes08Jan 05, 2022TutorCool! I wonder if my irobot, light bulbs, etc will be able to be controlled by as lexa if i separate them... IF netgear will replace this defective one
- Avezes08Jan 05, 2022TutorHmm actually wonder if i just went back to the aeris for my modem, if the router function in this would be more stable
- DanQCRJan 05, 2022StarI can control all devices at home, even when they’re connected to different bands. I have my TV hard wired, all my security devices on 2.4GHz and computers, phones, and smart devices to 5GHz; all being controlled.
- Avezes08Jan 05, 2022TutorSweet! Now i just have to find a technician who will rma this one
