CM1000v2 with no Internet at all (Dynamic Range Window violation & Commanded Power Exceeds...)

I have the CM1000v2 (Firmware version V1.01.03) and have been using it with no issues since the end of July with my ISP (Optimum). Just today, the internet connection dropped all of the sudden. I rebooted it and connected my computer to it directly, removing my router, and my internet connection was still gone.

In the event log, I see the following:

I've rebooted it and factory reset it and every time it turns back on, I get errors similar to what is above. Unlike some other forum posts here where the connection comes and goes, I have not gotten any working connection since the problem started about 4 hours ago.

I called my ISP and they claim that it's a problem with my modem. From what the logs say here, is that likely to be true? Or does my ISP just not know what they're talking about and the issue is actually on their end?

Thanks in advance!

  • Here's an image of my Cable Connection page, where I noticed huge numbers under the "Unerrored Codewords" section. Is this abnormal?

The ISP needs to send a tech out to check the line between there service box and your modem.
Have the ISP check the signal and line quality UP to the modem.
Be sure there are no coax cable line splitters, boosters or amplifiers in the between the modem and ISP service box.
Be sure your using good quality RG6 coax cable up to the modem.

Check the line with a different modem to see if the problem follows.

Thanks for your reply FURRYe38. I just had a tech out here, and he says that the signal coming in was fine. I actually ordered an RMA for the modem so I had two of the same modem at my apartment and both of them had the same issue. The instant they used their own modem/router combo (Ubee UBC1322) the internet started working again. I have no idea what's going on here. Which is more likely, I have two Netgear modems with the same issue? Or my ISP is purposefully blocking outside modems? Or something else entirely? I'm at my wits end.

Anything is possible when it comes to ISP and what they push thru and control.

You would have to send your NG modems to a friend or family member, hopefully that uses a different cable ISP and have them test these modems out on there ISP. Should the modems work then you'll know it's not the modems.
