cm1200

Got a new place and the internet wasn’t working. On the phone with one of the tech for hour just for him to send me an email to this form… modem is blinking downstream but now and than all three lights downstream, upstream and Internet would do it the same time. Have a AC2000 Smart Wifi Router connect to it and the “Internet World” would blink. Try restarting both the Modem and Router also sign into the Nighthawk app, it find the router but can’t access/connect to the internet. Please help!

    Which Internet service provider do you have?

     

    Did you pay the bill and get connected?

     

    Where did this CM1200 come from? You? The ISP?

     

    Can you connect to the Internet with just the modem? Plug a PC into its Ethernet port to see.

    Did you look at the manual for your modem to see what those lights mean?

     

    What is this AC2000?

     

    That is not a reliable guide to model number. Many devices come with an AC tag, but it is essentially a label that Netgear, and other brands, attach to hardware to describe wifi speeds.

     

    Look at the label on the device for the model number.

     

    Manuals are always a good place to start.

    Visit the support pages:

    Feed in your model numbers and check the documentation for your hardware.

    Look for the model number on the label on the device.

    Begin with the Quick Start/Installation Guide.

    While many questions about routers are generic and could be answered anywhere, some things need specialist knowledge.

    Something to keep in mind with the cm1200 is that even though it has 4x ethernet ports, xfinity only supports 1 public ip address for it. So only 1 device can be connected to it. Its not a router, its a modem only device. 

    So make sure you only have the router connected to it without anything else.
