CM400 and COMCAST Netgear useless

does not work with comcast....cables ok router ok laptop ok........netgear no help

Carefully follow the process documented -> How do I activate my Internet service with Comcast XFINITY?

By rule of thumb, connect a computer direct to the modem Ethernet port. The modem with it's unknonw MAC address will connect to Comcast so called "walled garden" network, where you should be able to reach the registration URL for registering the CM400 to your account.

I want to be mobile in house....50 + with wire.....but 12 with router.....AND CRASHES every few minutes.....

What router do you have? &nbsp;And what is crashing? &nbsp;The modem or the router?
