CM500v modem

I just installed my new modem CM500V.  My internet provider is Cablevision/Optimum.  I was able to get my internet connection right but have no dial tone.  There are 2 phone outlets in the modem - tel 1 and tel 2.  Tel 2 light is blinking but not tel 1.  I connected the phone cord from the phone base directly to Tel 2 but I have no dial tone.  I also tried moving it to Tel 1 (no blinking light) but also did not work.  I called 2x already my Optimum provider and they tried to trouble shoot but no avail.  I hate having a service guy come in my house due to difficulty in scheduling.  Is there anything that needs to be done with the modem to set the phone connection right.  I have done all the possible troubleshooting basics with the provider  - unplugging, reconnecting, etc.  Thanks.

    Try a reset on the modem. 

    IF you've swapped phone cables and such and not getting any dial tone, it's possible the modem is bad and need to be replaced.

    CM500V does NOT work with Optimum voice. 

    It is specifically for xfinity,
