CM700 rated for 1.4 Gbps and Xfinity states only 935 Mbps

Just recently got an upgrade to Xfinity plan to be up to 1000 Mbps, not sure why they just don't call it a 1 Gbps but whatever. I had a CM700 modem from earlier this year and based on the specs from Netgear it supports up to 1.4 Gbps. However, since the Xfinity upgrade, I have not gotten download speeds higher than 707 Mbps.

When I use the Xfinity app to troubleshoot it says that my device is not compatible with the speeds. Do I need to upgrade or should the CM700 device work and give me download speeds closer to 1Gbps?

  • Xfinity requires docsis 3.1 to hit gigabit speeds. The CM700 is only docsis 3.0 so it won't hit gigabit speeds.

I wish marketing would put actual supported speeds. The WAN port connection rate on this mode is 1000Mpbs so technically, a wired PC connected to the back of the CM modem will max out at around 900Mpbs or just some over. A speed test will never see anything over 1000Mbps.
