Comcast Service, IP Phone, R7000 netgear disonnecting every 10 minutes

Just switch from Comcast Business to Comcast Residential.  Didn't want to rent the Comcast box so I purchased a Nighthawk R7000 cable modem device.  Now my IP phone will disconnect like clock work every 10.5 minutes.  Help!

         An R7000 is not an R7000P, and neither of them is a "cable modem
      device."  What is the actual model number on the product label on your
      device?

       

         Visit http://netgear.com/support , put in your (actual) model number,
      and look for Documentation.  Get the User Manual.  Read.  Return here
      (or to some appropriate forum) with the actual model number.  The
      firmware version might also be helpful.

         Of course, the value of that advice depends on exactly what your
      device is.  (But the accompanying animated icon is very annoying in any
      case.)
