Compatible PC OS
I have a Linux OS, Ubuntu 16.04, can this work with a CMV Cable Modem w/telephone jack?
Also, if 'yes', are there any router-limitations using this modem?

Yes the linux box should connect via wifi or ethernet just like any other pc can.
