Connect Router To Work VPN
I am trying to configure the Router to connect to my work VPN. I am trying to use a VOIP phone at home while I am connected to the internal domain at work through VPN. This works fine with a softphon...

You didn't specify the model of your router. Most consumer grade Netgear router do not have any built-in VPN client support.

AC1900 - C6300BD It does say IPSEC is an option - just not sure to what degree

That's probably the IPSEC passthrough option. That only means that it won't block that traffic.

I did read that part. This modem is from my local cable company. Can you suggest a Router with the VPN capability I am looking for?

I'm gonna bet that you are using the Cisco Anyconnect VPN client. This is designed to provide VPN access for the computer it is running on. As such, you won't be able to run it or anything equivalent on a router. It would also probably be against your company's policy to set up VPN access on your router without your company's knowledge. Think of the security implications. If your network is not secure, you will have just opened up the entire company to being hacked.
You really should discuss your needs with your company's IT department. If they support these kinds of requests, they can supply you with the equipment to set up a site-to-site VPN.
