Connecting to Arris SB8200 modem. Want to have both hardwire and wifi connected.
Hello. I first purchased a CM1000 modem but had problems with it. Then I purchased a Arris SB8200 3.1docsis modem with two ethernet ports because I wanted to use one port to connect to my Nighthawk R8000 router and use the other port to connect ethernet hardwired to my desktop. Unfortunately, I'm told I have to buy a second IP address to use the second port.
My question is: Can I use the Netgear GS308 to connect to the Arris modem and be able to conncect my wifi router and ethernet hardwired desktop to the GS308 and have both work seperately off of the one port on the modem??? I want my desktop to be hardwired thru the GS308 to the modem. But I want my other computers to be on wireless.

No. If your ISP gives you only one (WAN) IP address, then you can
connect only one (addressable) device to the modem. Generally, that's
why NAT routers exist -- to allow multiple devices share that one (WAN)
IP address. A GS308 is a switch, and, as such, it lets you connect
multiple devices, but it does nothing to get them their own IP adresses.

What you should want is to connect a router to the modem, and then to
connect all your other devices to the router (by wire or wirelessly).
