Converting N 600 combination router to MODEM ONLY (model c3700v2)

Due to just buying a well reviewed mesh router system, I want to use my C3700 N600 Modem Router as a MODEM ONLY.  Netgear site advises against it, except under special circumstances.

Why is that?

Can I do it anyway?  Otherwise, it's a low end combo product that has far too many deadspots in my home.

Your feedback would be much appreciated.

    do it.

Not sure why its advising against it but modem only mode works fine on the combo devices. I've done it on my CAX80 and on my C7800 without issues. It worked well.

You can change the combo modem to modem only mode. Review the user manual for this infromation. IF you want to run a different router behind the modem, then this would be recommended. Having two routers on the same line can cause problems.
