D6400 Power Outage Orange Internet LED

Good afternoon all

We had a tempoary power outage this morning and it seems to have caused some major problems with my router. I have completed a full reset of my router which includes unpluging it for over 2 hours, doing a hard full factory reset and each time I try and re connect to the ISP the router cannot reach it. My VDSL line is fine as I have now plugged in our old router which works perfectly. I must admit I am a little disapointed with Netgear's product as it is brand new and I have never had a problem with them before.

Any help would be appreciated as I would hate to have to return it after spending £120 on this device.

  • Since you plugged in the old router, in the mean time you can play with D6400 with only PC connected. First of all, can you ping the router? If it does what is the TTL value you see? If you try to log in using default address 192.168.1.1 what happens?

      Hi, thanks for the reply

I have hooked up the router to my PC and have been able to access it without any issues. The router itself has all the settings loaded and I have done this by using the auto set up and the manual. The issue is around the routers connection to the ISP. The DSL link light is solid green but the internet light is solid orange. I have tried to get the router to manually disconnect and reconnect to the ISP but this has done nothing. Interestingly when I click to connect to the ISP nothing seems to happen, this was not the case with my old Netgear where when I clicked connect, the small box refreshed as if it was establishing the connection.

Then one more thing, did you power cycle the modem? Sounds like router is OK. Just to be sure run this command

to check you NIC-LAN port connection. ping localhost    This is loopback test to make sure related components are working

        OK.
