Factory reset CBR40/RBS20 now constant drops
Hello everyone I decided to sign up to post here and hopefully get some help from someone who’s had this same issue as my Google searches have been unfruitful.
so for many years me and my mom have had the orbi CBR40 router with 1 RBS20 satellite for our internet, that is it and it’s always worked very well with only a few drops every few months in the rooms furthest in the house.
recently we found another orbi rbs20 satellite and decided to purchase and add it but due to forgetting our login to orbi app and changed admin and admin passwords we did a full factory reset.
we took that time to add the new satellite and the old one, it took quite awhile because it kept saying it couldn’t find them despite pressing sync button on all for bit or only one would connect and the other wouldn’t but if we tried adding other then the previous wouldn’t be found. Long time later we finally got both connected, cool!
and then we started to notice less than 10 minutes later that the internet was constantly dropping, I’m talking it drops every 5-10 minutes, 15 if we are lucky. This is INCREDIBLY inconvenient. However our ISP says that it is not showing any drops for them aside from when we disconnected from wall and then after 20 minutes put back in.
our orbi is our own equipment so there isn’t really anything the ISO can do other then send a tech to check the lines themselves but nothing equipment related of course.
has anyone had this issue that after connecting a new satellite, the new satellite has seemingly messed up your connection and router?
we unplugged the new satellite and did another unplug and replug and still same issue, so unplugged old satellite too just incase and same issue, re-added our old one and it hasn’t gone back to pre-new satellite addition connection.
starting to regret ever having gotten a 2nd satellite in hope to make our room connections better at opposite end of house.
PLEASE HELP US!

What Firmware version is currently loaded?
What is the Mfr and model# of the Internet Service Providers modem/ONT the NG router is connected too? What is the size of your home? Sq Ft?
What is the distance between the router 📡 and satellite(s)🛰️? 30 feet or more is recommended in between RBR 📡 and RBS 🛰️ to begin with depending upon building materials when wired or wirelessly connected.
https://kb.netgear.com/31029/Where-should-I-place-my-Orbi-satellite 🛰Is the newer RBS FW updated to same version as other RBS?
What channel configurations are currently set on the router?
