factory reset not working

Question

so i forgot my router login password so i decided to factory reset it and did exactly like instructions say i held the button for 7 seconds and sometimes even longer (tried reseting 3 times) and every single time the default admin/password doesnt work... its like after the reset my router automatically restores my previous configurations because then all my devices reconnect to the wifi as well. i have a vpn and dont know if that somehow is affecting it? i have the c3700 N600

Did the power LED flash?
&nbsp;Unplug it and push reset for 15 seconds.
&nbsp; Call your ISP and tell them you forgot your password

Yes it did and I even unplugged did every solution I could find.. I have access to internet so not sure what my isp can do for me it's the fact I want to update my firmware but can't unless I can log into the router

Is there a new&nbsp;firmware to update the c3700 to, I couldn't find one. What makes you think there is one.
I believe if&nbsp;firmware&nbsp;is updated it's done by the ISP.
Call them and have them reset the Password for you.
