The modem is just a modem. Not a modem + Router

I have connected the DSL Modem to a 4 ports switch from a different manufacturer. The cable from the modem is connected to the WAN port of the switch now. But i Can't find a WAN port of the FS608 switch. I see only LAn ports.

That's unfortunate (if true). To connect multiple devices to the
Internet through your DSL ISP, you'd need a router, not only a switch.

Still a mystery.

Not a very detailed description of that gizmo, either. How much of
everyone's time are you trying to waste with these vague
non-descriptions? It's adding up.

I would not expect a network switch to have a "WAN" port, so I
suspect that your "a 4 ports switch" is actually a router (which might
have a built-in switch with four external ports), but without an actual
maker and model number, it's hard to be confident of much.

That's because, on a simple network switch, the all ports are
equivalent. Unlike the ports on a router, where there's a WAN-LAN
distinction.- PrimJan 02, 2019Aspirant
You're right. I have connected the Modem to a edimax router. The name of the modem is
Draytek Vigor 2132.So, What you're saying is that i can't connect the draytek to the FS608 switch?- antinodeJan 02, 2019Guru

Yow. Did you really think that "a edimax router" was a useful
description of anything?

Plain "2132", not "2132xxx"? To me, that looks like a router, not amodem, and not a simple switch:

What I said was that connecting a modem to a switch would probably be
a mistake. But your "the Modem" seems to be a router, so connecting a
switch to one of its LAN ports should be fine. Except that a "Vigor2132
Series Security Giga Router" would seem to have gigabit Ethernet ports,
so that a "Fast" Ethernet switch could add a new bottleneck to your
network.
If you ever decide to reveal what your equipment actually is, and how
all of it is connected, then it might be possible to stop guessing, and
make some actual progress. (I won't hold my breath.)
