Possible reception issue is due to the position of the antenna on the rotuer. The should be vertical for single level home or at a 45degree angle for multi story home. Also centrally placed in the middle of the home.

Maybe look into adding a EX7700 extender to help with wifi coverage maybe all thats needed.

Or if you like the router portion of the R7800, you could disable the wifi radios on it and install a Orbi or Nighthawk wireless MESH system in AP Mode for more updated wifi coverage.

If your a gamer, the XR series of gaming routers maybe something you want to look in to as well.

Be sure to post abut this over in the NH series router forum:

You might try Voxels 3rd party FW as well.
    Good Luck.

  • So maybe you can help which is better?
    Xr700 or nighthawk AX1000
Child of mine play online gaming 12hrs a day I swear but I have way to many devices on this router that could be faster I think I bump up are speed from 200 to 1g

I would go with the XR500. Add a EX7700 to help extend wifi coverage and also help off load connected devices from the router to help bandwidth and router load with having many deices on the router. Seems like you need something like this anyways even if you upgrade to a router. I have the XR450 with two EX7700s and it works wonderfully.

The XR700 is ok, however some features you may not need or have support for, LAG and wireless AD which hasn't really taken off in light of AX mode which seems to be the new mode and is taking off with wireless device support. Cost of the router is high for some features you may not use. I personally would avoid the XR700.

If you want and have support for AX mode, then maybe the AX router and a EAX80 extender to help again with coverage.
