VoIP applications and devices such as Ooma sometime have issues with SIP ALG feature which Netgear devices have enabled by default so you will need to disable it. There is couple of things you can try I would not recommend disabling the firewall.
- Start by disabling SIP ALG by going to Advanced > Setup > WAN Setup and check “disable SIP ALG”. If further help needed refer to SIP ALG KB https://kb.netgear.com/30796/How-to-disable-SIP-ALG-on-your-NETGEAR-device-using-the-genie-interface
- If disabling SIP ALG does not fix it then your next best option is to set up IP reservation for your Ooma device and adding that reserved IP to DMZ under Advanced > Setup > WAN Setup ”Default DMZ Server". Adding Ooma to DMZ server is a much better solution then fully disabling your firewall. If you need help setting up IP reservation and DMZ refer to DMZ KB https://kb.netgear.com/1118/How-do-I-configure-a-device-to-be-in-the-DMZ-on-my-NETGEAR-router and for IP reservation refer to KB https://kb.netgear.com/25722/How-do-I-reserve-an-IP-address-on-my-NETGEAR-router
