Internet keeps flashing in and out
So we've had this Netgear router for a couple years now and we haven't had any problems with it until now. It seems that every 1-5 minutes every device connected to the wifi (including phones, laptops, and an Xbox) will disconnect for about a second or two and then reconnect. This causes many problems especially with the Xbox and makes it hard to use the wifi for long periods of time.
Here's a list on everything we have tried so far:
* Turning off the router and waiting 30 seconds before turning it back on.
* Doing the same thing as above but with the modem as well.
* Doing a complete factory reset by holding the factory reset button down for 7 seconds and then rebooting the router as done above.
* Updating the firmware online to the latest version and rebooting again.
* And finally after calling support they told us to hold the factory reset button for a whole minute this time and then reboot and update the firmware, but it told me that there were no new versions to update to.
After trying all of these nothing has fixed it and the problem still occurs. If anyone has had this problem before or know of a solution to this let me know please I would greatly appreciate it.

I believe your router IP is conflicting with the Internet Service Provider. Have you tried contacting your ISP? I think he would be able to tell you better regarding it as you have tried all the tricks up your sleeve.

It might be time for an upgrade. That router was released in 2009. As much as I don't like throwing away good equipment, getting 10 years out of a router is doing pretty good.
You have the option of redoing the firmware in case it was corrupt. What I mean by that is if the firmware was corrupt, resetting back to factory doesn't fix the issue as it just resets the settings, not the firmware. To reinstall it, follow the manual firmware update procedure in the manual. do it over a hardwired connection and perform a factory reset afterward.
There's also the chance of replacing the power supply. they occassionally go bad and can cause wifi instability as they go bad. If you had one there that matched (voltage and amperage), you could swap it out and see if it helps. I wouldn't buy a new one as the $ would be better invested in upgrading the router.
