MDD message timeout,CM-STATUS Event Type Code: 4, & Unicast Maintenance Ranging timeouts.
Hello, I am NOW having issues with my new (CM2500) mid/high modem. I've been having latency issues, time outs, disconnects for awhile now, ever since Comcast 'upgraded' the internet in my area. I...

It was allready ON.
I did toggle it off and on, didnt seem to change anything.
For science, I returned the cm2500 modem and got a cm1000v2 downgrade, to see if it was just too beefy a modem for what we have in the apt.
Well, the cm1000v2 is haveing the exact same issues and giveing us HALF our paid for speed now.
The CM2500 gave us around 900mbps Download and 150mbps upload, our plan is for 800download and 100upload.
With the CM1000v2 we get 400-500 download and 6upload. Lmao
So now im thinking, that I've tested it properly and its all about the lines to the apartment, I should just return the cm1000v2 and get back the cm2500 because it was better over all? Plus the cm1000v2 seems to be fazeing out since the other 1000s in the line are no longer shown on the xfinity sight to even be supported.
In your professional opinion, would it be a good idea to just go and get the cm2500 back?

Ya I would get the CM2500 so you have something current and officially supported by the ISP.
Seems like this is a ISP and building issue that needs to be addressed.

Ok, yeah, I agree, its an issue I, myself, can not fix and they have to.
A tech is comeing out tommarow to look into everything. I am 100% sure its an issue only they can fix at this point. Seeing as how I went the extra football field of testing a whole new modem just to see if it was ANYTHING I could do. Lol
Thank you for all the help FURRY, you are awesome!
Ill let you know if this gets resolved.

So, update on this issue:
Tech came out, told me he could do nothing about the warnings, criticals and time outs because the modem and router are not the ISPs gateway and his hands are tied there. He did suggest its not the isp signal to the modem, its the modem to the router and to switch out my cat5e to a cat6 but not a 7 because that would be overkill. That the time outs could be because the cat5e can handle up to 100mbps upload and the cm2500 pushes far past that to 156mbps+. Could be hitting the wire threshold.
So, im going to get the cat6 cable for between modem/router and see if that solves this.
Do you think it would be worth it, if this does not work out, to just return the expencive modem and sign up for my ISPs gateway instead?
I dont do anything fancy with my internet anyways. No forwarding or running anything major on it.

Ya, figures the ISP would wash there hands of that, however it is on the ISP to clear those conditions, its on there side of the ISP signal line regardless of whos modem it is.
So the CM and RAX54 didn't work even after trying a new CAT6A STP cable?
Ya, CAT5e is good up to 1Gb however past that, best practice is to use CAT6A STP. However the RAX54 is maxed at 1Gb.

Yeah. Unfortunatly, the CM2500 (which is re-bought and returned the cm1000v2) a new system, had the same issues.
Latency, MDD, Timeouts, errors, yep all of it.
I did everything I could, truely.
Nothing fixed the latency and disconnecting errors, even after the cat6 cord and all of that.
So, I got my ISPs gateway, put it into bridge mode and use my RAX54 as the router for it.
I like the set up of Netgears Nighthawk app and such but.. yeah thier modems did not work for me, for whatever reason. I did give it a real fair try though.
So yeah, everything is fixed, its all working, no more errors or anything.
980mbps download/110mbps upload flawless now with the ISP gateway. Also got locked in to this plan at 86$ a month for 5 years and anything that happens with the gateway I can just get a new one with no charge. So I went for continence and im happy with it.
Learned A LOT here and I still love my RAX54.
Thank you for all your help here Furry, your awesome <3
