Modem and Router and Optimum Cable
I am thinking of a new modem (I currently rent from Optimum), router and powerline extenders
I am an Optimum customer (unfortunately)
I am willing to spend the extra money to get the WifI 6 802.11ax in anticipation of future devises. (New TV and Mobile Phone are not far off)
My house was built/wired in 1998 but has lots of walls interfering with wifi coverage
I am also a novice with all this tech stuff.
I am looking at
- Netgear's Nighthawk AX4 AX3000
- TP-Link AV1300 Powerline WiFi Extender - Powerline Adapter with AC1350 Dual Band WiFi, Gigabit Port, 2X2 MIMO with Beamforming, Plug&Play, Power Savin
- Modem?
Questions:
- Is this a good solution?
- What modem should I buy?
In advance, thank you for any help you can provide!

Which modem should you buy? I'd check with optimum to find out whats compatible with their service. We can recommend many different modems but it doesn't do any good if optimum says they aren't compatible
Depending on the size of your home, I'm a fan of mesh networks versus single router solutions and powerline devices. They tend to be more seamless and stabile.
