Multiple Public IP Addresses with CM700 and Comcast XFinity
I have Comcast Xfinity and a CM700. I want to get multiple (two) public addresses so that I can bind each one to a different router/firewall. Comcast says I have to change a setting in the CM700 to d...

They should be able to attach 2 modems to your account and then assign each one a IP address no setting would need changed in the modem.

Am I asking something that is overly simple and documented somewhere? Or is this not possible? Comcast Xfinity is telling me I can have more than one Public IP and if I was running their modem they'd make the change but using the NetGear CM700 I have to make a setting change myself.

I finally did get this answer from Xfinity. You basically need a cable modem for every public IP you want to use.

you may want to double check with Xfinity.
at some point of time, they were selling extra public IP for $5-10/month.
you can always go for business connection with multiple IPs with CM700 (although it will NOT be STATIC IP).

They sold me, just a week and half ago adding 4 IPs for $9.95 a month. Problem I had was it took 6 phone calls and I couldn't find out how to set it up and somehow I got a customer sat call back and that guy was able to help me.
All you do is plug in the new cable modem and activate it to your account. What can make it tricky is if you have used that cable modem prior and the mac is on record with your account.
