NETGEAR CM2050V and Xfinity Firmware update for higher speeds ie. 2GB down/200 up

HI Everyone,

I know there are tons of older threads on the non-compatibility of the NETGEAR CM2050V with the higher speeds as xfinity/comcast upgraded their speeds

If anyone from Netgear is reading this, are there are plans to fix the firmware on CM2050V so it will work with the higher speeds provided by Xfinity ?

I will ask the same question on the Xfinity forum but they keep pointing it back to Netgear

thanks

Sunil

  • There is a lot of finger pointing on both (Comcast/Netgear) sides, isn't there?

It appears that users are expected to use communityforums so that they can share rumors since you don't get any official info on either side.

Unfortunately neither NG or ISP will share official information, on IF or when higher speeds will be seen. Something you'll need to keep checking on with the ISP. Mostly at the ISP level as THEY are the final approver for what works on there network. They are on the ones that has to test and certify FW that comes from NG. How ever long that takes and that's not including issues that maybe seen by the ISP on there side. There maybe other mitigating factors that cause delays in getting stuff to work right before finally approval comes about. All between NG and the ISP.

        Good Luck.
