NETGEAR CM500-1AZNAS and AC 1450
Would there be any reason a CM500 modem and an AC1450 router would not be compatible?
no there should not be a reason the cm500 should work with any router.

Darrin - thanks for answering. It helped me isolate the problem. I just switched out a Comcast modem for a Netgear modem, gave Comcast the MAC, but through the Netgear router it wouldn't connect to the internet. The router is Netgear and I've used it for years with the Comcast modem. Finally, we figured out that it was a DNS issue. Now everything's fine. Thanks again.
