Netgear Nighthawk C7000 - Slow Download Speed through ethernet ports

Just bought this for use with my cable ISP. Called them before hand and they assured me that many customers were using the same modem/router for their service. I am paying for 200mbps down and when connected through hard wire the most I am getting is 65-75mbps.

I thought perhaps it was the switch that the internet is passing through however when I connect a laptop by ethernet wire directly to the C7000 I am getting the same slow speeds.

Googled and not finding much so hoping y'all can help. Thanks

    Hello chillen468

I would contact your ISP again have them check if everything is coded right on there side and also check there diagnostic tools if they can see a issue. Also have you checked during certain times of the day to see if you are getting the same results because sometimes the headend you are connected to can have to many people online causing the slow down.

  • Not sure that's the issue. On WiFi I am getting consistently faster speeds on the 5ghz band. This leads me to think there is a setting in the router that needs to be adjusted.

      Hello ckillen468

Shouldn't be anything that needs changed to get full speeds across the lan connection you may want to try and factory reset the modem incase something from a firmware update messed up.

  • I'm having the same issues with download speeds. Bought the C7000 from BestBuy end of 2-2017. When it works it works great! I have Comcast and pay for 150Mbps .... pretty much from the beginning I was getting about 5mbps ... even called Comcast and they even sent out a technitian. He thinks that it is the modem. I really just want to return this
