Network security concern

My issue might seem farfetched but I believe that my is being affected in some way by a modder on gta v online. Seems to be the only time I have issues is when I try to enter a session online. I play on Xbox 360 and use an Ethernet connection for my console. I was in a session with someone who for reasons unknown told me to leave which I refused then got hit by a flying bus, which is not possible within the official programming of the game then was messaged 50 or so times in-game the same message in rapid succession. Immediately afterwards connection to Xbox live failed and only fails thereafter in gta v online. I would contact rockstar games and or Xbox support but my concern is network security not the game itself. I'm wanting to know if there is any way to safeguard my network from such intrusions which I don't believe are DDoS related but I don't want to rule anything out... anyway does anyone have experience with such things that might be able to help me protect my network against such things? Sorry for such a long post BTW
