Nighthawk CAX80 use ethernet instead of cable to access Internet

Can I have the nighthawk CAX80 use a ethernet cable attached to a modem to access the internet instead of the coaxial cable? I don’t like that Xfinity won’t let me change DNS, and I have a CAX80 from a neighbor, but I can’t use it normally as it’s still connected to the neighbors account and my neighbor is unable to access the account to remove it

The answer to your question is no, you cannot get there from here.

The router section of the CAX80 is directly connected internally to the output of the cable modem section.

If you have an Xfinity gateway, you will have to put it in bridge mode and then connect to a router with an Ethernet input port.

    1. you can change your dns. I do it all the time.

    2. If its not removed from the neighbors account and they're on xfnity, if you connect it, it would work at your place. They only add the mac to their system. So if its still active on his account it'd work. If it doesn't work, it isn't active on his account.

    3. Have you tried to have it activated to your account either through the xfinity app or using their chat function? Where does it fail in the process?
