Nighthawk X4S C7800 Drops Connection to Online Matches XBOX ONE X
Hello,
I have been having an issue for a few months now with my C7800 and Xbox One X. The connection is hardwired in, and internet speeds are great but I will frequently lose connection to online matches (around once or twice every hour). This happens across all games, but only seems to affect the game (and sometimes xbox party chat). I will still show a connection to xbox live and if I am streaming video on another device at the same time the stream does not get interrupted.
So far, I have tried setting up the recommended port forwarding for an Xbox One X connection and contacted my ISP (RCN). They could see no issues with the signal, and I've checked down and up stream power and it seems to be strong.
Appreciate any recommendations anyone may have.

have you tried setting your xbox up in the C7800's DMZ?

- gpoglianoAspirantThanks for the quick reply! I just tried this and hopped in a couple games. Small sample size so far, but it seems to be working! I'll try to remember to update after a few more games to see if it held. Last question, how worried should I be about security with this setup?

I personally would not recommend using DMZ for any game console. Could lead to nefarious attackers trying to gain access or do nefarious things while you game online.
What Firmware version is currently loaded?
What Cat version is the lan cable between the modem and game console? CAT6 is recommended.
If you set up port fowarding, then uPnP should be disabled. If your the only one gaming online with xbox, then PF is not needed and uPnP should work for gaming online.
Be sure there are no coax cable line splitters in the between the modem and ISP service box.
Be sure your using good quality RG6 coax cable up to the modem.
Be sure to power OFF the modem for 1 minute then back ON.
