no firmware update option
Hi,
The WiFi speed by the router is half the speed of the internet. When the laptop connects with an ethernet cable, it is 500M; without it is 250M. I did factory reset and it didn't solve the problem.
The Nighthwak app on iPhone says the firmware is not up to date. When I press to connect to routerlogin.com it fails to open the page although the phone is connected to the router nwtwork. The only way to connect is using the browser on the laptop. The firmware shows V1.02.09, but there is no option to update the firmware under Advanced->Administration.
Do you have any idea how to update the firmware (if it needs updating since the browser doesn't indicate that it is not up to date while the app says it is)?

Depending on this and your wifi devices, wifi speeds may or may not see same speeds as wired speeds.
This is a older model gateway unit and newer gateways and routers have better wifi support.
These model gateways don't support user update FW. Only the ISP can update FW.
You might change this gateway into a modem only then connect up a router system behind it and then you can manage and maintain FW updates on that system yourself.

Thank you for the detailed response!
I don't think the ISP will agree to update the firmware of a private equipment so I guess my options like you suggested are to buy a new equipment (modem) or get their own equipment.

Ya some ISP may not update customer owned modems. Some may. Up to the ISP.
Best to get into something you can manage.
