Open Ports on C6300

When I scan my NAT, I see:

  • 192.168.x.1
  • Host is up (0.047s latency).
  • Not shown: 96 closed ports
  • PORT     STATE SERVICE
    53/tcp   open  domain
    80/tcp   open  http
    445/tcp  open  microsoft-ds
    5000/tcp open  upnp
    MAC Address: 6C:B0:CE:8C:14:2A (Netgear)

AND

  • 192.168.x.254
  • Host is up (0.0034s latency).
  • Not shown: 98 closed ports
    PORT      STATE SERVICE
    514/tcp   open  shell
    49152/tcp open  unknown
    MAC Address: 28:C6:8E:00:00:01 (Netgear)

I disabled readyshare and upnp. What are these open ports all about? How the heck do I close them?

Thanks

    Hello Seadude

If you want to block those ports you will want to log into your modem then go to Advanced-Security-Block Services there you can block those services with the open ports.
