Port Forwarding Issue on CAX80

I was looking for some advice on being able to port forward on a CAX80 Nighthawk (I believe I selected the correct model). Every time I attempt to put in a custom port I get an error message that says "The specified port(s) are being used by other configurations. Please check your configurations of USB Readyshare, Remote Management, Port Forwarding, Port Triggering and UPnP Port Mapping table."

I attempted following the solution in https://community.netgear.com/t5/Cable-Modems-Routers/CAX80-Port-forwarding-broke/m-p/2048903#M30248 but with no success. From what I gathered from that solution I need to play around with LAN Setup in order to get started on that solution but am unsure of what to put in to successfully get the settings to take (I included a screenshot of my LAN Setup page). Anyone have advice on what I can do to get this working? Let me know if I'm forgetting to include some information too.

  • I experienced the same problem, and the solution I found was to make sure the DHCP range included the IP address that I was trying to forward to. In my case, the IP address that I wanted to forward to is static, so naturally it resides outside the DHCP range. This ends up giving the error you describe, so I made my DHCP range larger to include all my static IP addresses as well.

It seems the router only will allow port forwarding to IP addresses that fall within the DHCP range.  This functionality is completely ridiculous and is broken by design. Even more offensive is that this is one of the most expensive routers on the market and the bug has been present for months now.  I've never missed DD-WRT so much, and I'm seriously considering returning this device.
