Thank you Antinode for taking your time to answer my query with your valuable information. I was certain it would work but I just wanted to be sure of it. I ordered the C7000 and its on its way.

Of course, one port of the switch is connected to one of the LAN
Ethernet ports of the modem+router. (The switch itself won't fit into
one of those little holes. And, I'd bet that there's more than one
"modem[+router] ethernet port".)

All the C7000 LAN Ethernet ports should be equivalent.
