I have a Linksys Mesh and am looking at getting a CAX80

I have a Linksys Mesh and am looking at getting a CAX80.  What does running the mesh system in "access point mode" mean - to a non -techie.  Thanks,

What do you what the CAX80 for? 

If you've already got the linksys mesh, you've already got a router. you could just get a standalone modem like the cm3000
