Re: Netgear CM2050V Modem Firmware Update to V10.01.03

I'm in the southeastern MA area (south of Boston) and decided to upgrade my plan to the "x2" speeds after getting the newest firmware in early march.

I am seeing the same exact issue reported here. Download is fine, upload is locked at around 40-41 mbps.

Had it "reprovisioned" a few times with always the same thing. Had a tech come out and veried that before the modem he gets 2gbps and up over 400 upload, after the modem he's getting 2gbps and 41mbps up. Clearly there is some sort of issue here preventing these modems from having the faster upload.

Lots of comments on reddit and xfinity forums as well with the same issue. Seems kind of bad since this is the best voice modem out there from netgear and this firmware has been LONG awaited.

Please help!

  • Speculation only on my part, I think the firmware was pushed to the modems prior to a Next Gen boot file being certified for use.  Maybe just to check to see if the firmware causes issues with the Xfinity network.

  • I can't help, but only confirm you are not alone.   Many months ago, a comcast tech swapped in their modem and I got 100MB upload speeds, them the cm2050V got 20MB.  Now the cm2050v is getting around 40MB, exactly the same as you.  So, it seems the new, V10, firmware is better, but there is still a reason this modem cannot get the upload speeds it is supposed to.  For whatever reason (comcast or netgear) we have not gotten what we paid for.   FYI:  I am in the Baltimore, MD area.

Still doing the same here in the Seattle area.  For me, the new firmware is performing fine except for the upload.  I think they have not released a certified boot file.
