Retail purchase vs ISP provided modem router
Does anyone know how to tell the difference between a retail purchased unit versus one that was purchased or acquired through a specific ISP? There are A LOT of these for sale on eBay, Craigslist...

In a VERY long chat session with one of your experts, I was (finally) told that ISP-specific models had either CXNAS or NAS somewhere on the unit, which I suspected was inaccurate.
However, from your post, aren't you implying that the CG3000D is inherently specific to a certain provider? I understood these units could (also) be purchased from Best Buy, etc.
Please explain.

Hello AJwright64
Like I said most times this is how to identify this but not always if you look on www.netgear.com you can see all the retail units it will not list isp only units.
