Rolling back firmware for C3700

My C3700 is now only allowing my computer to ping websites which have IPv6 addresses. I suspect that Xfinity pushed a firmware upgrade onto it Monday, as it was working fine in the morning, but was unable to access most sites in the evening. I hadn't altered anything.

I've now tried using it with three laptops, one of which is almost brand new and had never connected to this modem before, but the results are the same for all three. I've even switched out the coaxial cable just in case, but had no success.

I've visited the downloads page for C3700 and found no prior firmware versions. Is there anywhere I can obtain an earlier version? (The current Firmware Version is V2.02.23)

  • The current Xfinity firmware for the C3700 is V2.02.23.  Reference page here:

Firmware for the C series of cable modem/routers is strictly under the purview of the ISP.  Nothing the end user can do one direction or the other.

If using Windows, have you checked the network profile assigned to your connection?  It should be classified as Private as opposed to Public.  Go to Settings -> Network & Internet -> Status -> Properties.

Thank you for your response, but I wasn't able to make it back from work early enough today to try it. My roommate bought a new modem while I was out, so I can't say for sure whether this fix would have done the trick. Thanks for the tip, though.
