Router Re-boot Required Every Time I Attempt Wireless Connection

I have a CG4500BD combo modem-router made for Cox Communications. If I turn off my smart TV or my wife's laptop, they will not connect wirelessly (with error "waiting for IP address") unless I power down, then power up the router. Then everything is fine untill I shut them off.
My Android tablets do not seem to have this problem. Any ideas on what to try? Firmware update?

    Hello Jniznik

It sounds like some type of Ip conflict happening with these devices. I cant find much we can do in the settings of the modem to prevent this from happening as these modems are locked down and supported by Cox you may want to swap it out at one of there stores for a different one.

I have the same problem and did swap out for a new router. I am still having problems with the new router. I have also downloaded the adapters, to no sucess any help. Will a different brand work with COX? This is so irritating I could throw the modem out the window.
