Setting up a modem without an ethernet connection on a computer

Netgear's setup instructions call for connecting the modem to my computer with an ethernet cable.  My computer is MacBook Pro without an ethernet port.  How can I get around this?

The easy way might be to obtain (borrow, buy, rent, steal, ...) a

computer with an Ethernet port, or else get an Ethernet adapter for your
    (unspecified) MacBook Pro.

  • I have set up plenty of times without one via wifi.  It does have its issues but can be managed if you know how.  I love that you follow the guidelines though!!!  At least someone reads before posting.

If you are keen on an ethernet cable you can source a wifi to ethernet adapter like antinode alluded too.

Actually, he was thinking of a USB- or Thunderbolt-to-Ethernet
      adapter, like, say:

But with a description like "MacBook Pro", I have little idea which
ports are available on it for expansion.  (The last time I touched a
MacBook Pro (MacBookPro8,1, "Early 2011"?), it had an Ethernet port.)
