static IP for vpn

When changing the modem from the dynamic IP to a static IP (advanced/setup/internet setup/) I started having problems losing my IPV4 internet connection. When I restore again to dynamic, everything works. Is here something that i am missing to make my modem have a static IP ?

    You cannot use a static IP address without your ISP's consent.  You will need to call them and ask for it.  You may have to pay a fee to lease one.

     

    You may want to consider using Dynamic DNS.  The manual describes how it works (link).
