The Future of CM2000
Does NETGEAR intend to (eventually) enhance the CM2000 through a firmware update to enable improved upload speeds on the Xfinity “10G” next generation network, as are now available with the CM3000 - and, as were formerly available with the CM2050V (see here)?
P.S.: The CM2000 is currently advertised as “ready for Gigabit (and more) cable Internet service plans available today and future upgrades”.

Unknown. The only thing I've seen on the forums is the CM2050V and the CAX80 on the xfinity reddit forums. Netgear doesn't disclose whats being worked on.
- jay_wApprenticeI hate to say it… but the CM2000 seems to be a stepping stone…. The CM3000 was just released and it’s awesome.
- ptamborelloAspirantI know this is aluminum foil hat territory, but my connection to Xfinity has progressively gotten worse recently with my CM2000 and I was wondering if this is because of the modem or if Xfinity is just trying to push me to get their modem.
I did a manual reboot of my modem recently and now only one light (upstream) lights at all, I saw the multi light up for a second, but it went right out. Of course I'm a couple months out of warranty, too. The web diagnostics say it's fine, but my speed has dropped over 200Mbps over the course of the last few months.
I'd buy another netgear but if it's only going to last me a little over a year, it's not cost effective compared to just renting one from Xfinity.
I'm really bummed my CM2000 isn't lasting as long as my old Netgear modem, but like someone said above, it must just be a stepping stone to the 3000, which Xfinity still supports, but I'm not willing to pay hundreds of dollars for something that might fail again a little over a year from now.- jay_wApprenticeHonestly… I feel like Netgear and Xfinity gave up on the CM2000 … in favor of the CM3000.
I had the CM1200 which is rock solid…. But it lacked a multi-gig port, and the aggregated ports worked but oddly and repeatedly deteriorated after 24 hours. A reboot fixed the issue.
So I was researching the CM2000 when I noticed the CM3000 was on the preferred list… so I waited a few months until it was available and picked up the CM3000 2 months ago.
Needless to say, Xfinity is all about the split tunnel… and upselling their faster service. Given the demonstrated lack of support for the CM2000…. Not sure what else to say.- ptamborelloAspirantThe really sad part now is after looking at Xfinity's website, I spend $30/month extra to get unlimited data (6 people in the house that all use a lot of Internet), their xfi complete modem is $25/month to rent (only $10/month rn for 24 months) and comes with unlimited data at no extra charge beyond renting the modem. At this point the decision is a no brainer, no point in buying my own if I can get cheaper Internet by just renting their equipment.
