To keep or not to keep the CM 600
Hey,
New to the forum but not Netgear. Wanted to get an opinion on wether I should keep my new modem CM 600 or go back to my old one which is a CM 400. Wifi network is good with 70mb download speed through the whole house which is what I pay for. I bought the CM 600 under the mistaken belief the CM 400 was bottlenecked and the new modem would get me to the 100mb download speed Spectrum is touting from my current 70mb. My network speed didnt get any fater and I found out why from the Spectrum tech that was activating the new modem. She told me my neghborhood is a 100mb area. Evidently legacy customers (i.e. TWC before the merger) who stick with Spectrum have their speeds capped at 70mb which is what the basic plan was before the merger. New people in my area are getting the 100mb speed. So it wasnt the old modem after all. I'm not to miffed about buying the new modem too much as I got it on sale. I am miffed paying the same internet price as everone else and getting shorted 30mb. Which leads me to my question. Specs say the CM 400 can handle 100mb easy. So does the CM 600 offer any long term advantes over the CM 400? Enough to warrant me keeping it? I'm gonna get 70mb either way I go. Just wanted to get some perspective. Thanks for the help and stay safe.

not a lot of benefit if you don't plan on upgrading your speed.
If you do plan on upgrading shortly, then yes there is a benefit.
I say shortly because docsis 3.1 devices have been coming down in cost and they're capable of gigabit. If your not upgrading shortly, I'd return the cm600 as it won't benefit you any until you up your speed.
