WiFi lag and decreased range
Hi, I am having some trouble with my NightHawk CAX30 router. I have noticed that recently I have been getting some severe lag spikes with my WiFi. Around to 200-300 ms in online games, but it doesn't happen consistently. The range has also decreased a lot. I have trouble streaming videos on my phone one room over from the room with the router when it was fine before. This started occurring after I got notification of a firmware update causing connection problems with my particular router. I seemed to have fixed the worst of the connection issues, but I'm not sure if there's more I need to do. I have already tried dealing with the traffic setting that was causing the connection problems, restarting my router, and doing a hard reset of the router. Not sure if anyone else knows what to do?

That's a modem router.
While many questions about routers are generic and could be answered anywhere, some things need specialist knowledge.
You might get more help, and find earlier questions and answers specific to your device, in the appropriate section for your hardware. That's probably here:Cable Modems & Gateways - NETGEAR Communities
You might like to search there for messages related to your problem.
I will ask the Netgear moderator to move your message.
In the meantime you could visit the support pages:
Support | NETGEAR
Feed in your model number and check the documentation for your hardware. Look at the label on the device for the model number.
Check for various troubleshooting tips.
You may have done this already. I can't tell from your message.
I mention it because Netgear stopped supplying printed manuals and CD versions some years ago and people sometimes miss the downloads. - FURRYe38Guru - Experienced User
What Firmware version is currently loaded?
What channels are you using? Auto? Try setting manual channel 1, 6 or 11 on 2.4Ghz and 40 to 48 channel on 5Ghz.
Any Wifi Neighbors near by? If so, how many? What wifi devices do you have connected?
Please post a copy and paste of the modems connection status and event log page.
