Wired Connection a lot slower than 5G WiFi
I've been running into a weird issue where my wired download speeds are much lower than my 5G WiFi speeds. When I hardwire the router to my laptop, it says the connection is the same name as the 2.4G...

Main issue is I shouldn't be getting 80/10 speeds on a Wired connection if I'm able to pull 300/20 on 5G wireless. Wired should always be faster.

Not if your (unspecified) "my laptop" has a 100MHz wired connection.
What do the port-status LED indicators on the router indicate?
- BDriftyDec 04, 2018AspirantIt lights up green just like the port designated to the Xbox One. I was able to get 300/20 on my previous modem/router combo on both laptops, but not with the Netgear one. I can only achieve the desired speeds on the Xbox One or the 5GHz wifi band with this one. Again, both PCs utilize Gig Ethernet ports as well.
- BDriftyDec 04, 2018AspirantTo be more specific, the left light, lights up for both different Ethernet ports on the router, not the right side one. They're a greenish/yellow color? I'm part colorblind. Lol

You lost me on that. Left/right? In any case, I didn't realize how
lame the Ethernet indicators were on that gizmo. (On the D7000 or
R7000, they're better.) Probably more useful to ask Windows (if that's
your OS) about its Ethernet port link rate.

That's nice, but if the cable is bad (in the right way), then you
could get a link rate of only 100MHz.
I don't have a Windows system up at the moment, so I know nothing,
but perhaps an "ipconfig /all" report would reveal something.
