Wired Ethernet ports are significantly slower than wireless

I just purchased a c3600 modem/router combo to replace the rental arris that comes with Comcast XFINITY.
The wireless speeds are as expected. But just as you mentioned, the wired ethernet connections are 50-55 mbps consistently.
I've tried different cables and different PCs/laptops, all with the same speed result of 50-55 mbps.
At a loss as to what is going on.
Any help?
