Adding a wifi extender
Hi all
I started a thread back in January which has now closed (Additional adapter for Powerline 500 + WiFi (XWNB5201).
Thank you for your answers on that, but due to working away from home I did not see the solution through.
I bought a N300 WiFi extender Model EX2700.
I have followed the quick start guide but am coming up against a brick wall.
I can log onto the Netgear extender using the url in the quick guide. It finds my existing wifi network but when I enter the security key that I use to connect all other devices I get an error warning.
I seem to get options on the Netgear Genie software of 64/128 bit encryption, but whichever I use I get error message and cannot proceed. I get Automatic and shared Key options but all have the same outcome
I also looked at the Netgear support document about adding another adapter and it says to press the security button, but this device does not have one, so I feel like I'm between a rock and a hard place.
I have a technical job, but not in IT. So feel stupid I cannot resolve this.
I have a Virgin router and a Powerline 500 extender that works fine in another room
Help would be appreciated
Thanks
