Basic question after setup
A basic question. After I successfully set up my two powerline outlets, connected one to my router and the other to my laptop, will the connection on my Windows task bar show up as a wi-fi signal ic...

What are you using to view the network? What plugs do you have?
The desktop Netgear genie – not the smartest software around – has a separate entry for powerline networks.
If you have plugs with a wifi access point, then it will show as a wifi link. If they are simply wired then they appear as LAN in the genie. The genie is worth investigating if you want to control the plugs.
