Buffering problem with Powerline 500 Adapter XAVB5201

Can anyone out there help with my problem please.

I am using a Netgear Powerline 500 Mbps ( Home Plug) Adapter ( XAVB 5201) plugged directly into a Power Socket near my Sony Smart TV.

This is to get a link through the electrical system to a Netgear Broadband Router in another room.

The Netgear Adapter near the TV  has an Ethernet Cable link to a Humax Satellite Box..

Problem : When I use any of the UK   'Catch Up- On Demand ' services VIA THE TV, I get annoying ' buffering' delays at intervals during the programme being viewed.

                 Sometimes the programme never returns.

However, when I USE MY PC to get these same  ' Catch Up-On Demand ' services, there is absolutely no interuptions or 'buffering' issues.

I have done a Broadband Speed Test on my PC and it shows 12.64 Download and 1.55 Upload.

From what I have read, this Speed seems to be more than adequate for the purpose.

Any ideas about what is happening and particularly solutions to this problem will be gratefully received.

Thanks in hopeful anticipation !

  • My mum has exactly the same problem with her Humax every now and then.

Unfortunately you cannot record/download tv programmes on the Humax when accessing onDemand, but you can let it get ahead of itself by pressing pause once you've selected the programme.

Leave the programme on pause for a minute or two then press play again.  This should download enough of a buffer so the Humax doesn't stutter any more

    Hope this helps

Is the smart TV wired or wifi? (I can't work out what is connected to what.) I use wired Powerline for my smart BluRay player. I never see any buffering.
